Both John Clayton (author of this article) and Mike Sando (author of the one you mention below) are former writers for the Tacoma News Tribune, which I delivered from 1995-96. Mere coincidence? Not likely.

Possible alternative explanation: Clayton's knowledge of the NFL got him the ESPN job, and then Clayton's ESPN connection helped his friend Sando get a job.

I didn't know Mike Sando used to write for the Tacoma News Tribune. Man, what a kick ass newspaper staff!
What are the odds that two guys writing for the TNT would rise to both become prominent sports journalists? Is there a story behind this?
